Alleged Nexus 4 specs detailed in the wild

As someone who still carries around an original Nexus smartphone, the long list of impressive N4 specs seems almost too good to be true.

Yes, BGR has managed to obtain alleged specs of what it claims is Google's next-gen handset, which is likely to be dubbed the Nexus 4.

Described as an "absolute beast," the N4 is believed to feature a dual-core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz CPU.

Interestingly enough, and contrary to earlier reports, the N4 is said to be powered by an OMAP 4460 or ultra low-power 28nm Krait-based Qualcomm Snapdragon - rather than Nvidia's Kal-El processor.

The unconfirmed smartphone may also boast a 720p HD "monster-sized" screen, and won't offer physical Android menu buttons below the screen - which seems to indicate a definite evolution towards a "software only" approach.

Additional specs include:

  • "Ultra-thin" package.

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
  • 4G LTE radio.

  • 1GB of RAM.
  • 1080p HD video.
  • 1-megapixel front-facing camera and 5-megapixel rear camera.

"We were told Google is aiming to make the phone available around Thanksgiving, and our source couldn't confirm a carrier, leading us to believe this might be one of the first AT&T 4G LTE smartphones," wrote BGR's Jonathan S. Geller.

"It's also possible that this device will just be the flagship/reference Ice Cream Sandwich device - just like the Motorola DROID and Motorola XOOM were for Android 2.0 and Android 3.0, respectively - and not a Google Nexus-branded product, so we'll have to wait and see. In either case, this sounds like an incredible phone regardless of what label is under the dress."
