Polished version of Firefox 4 Android goes live

  • No more RCs or beta versions! Mozilla has released a polished, finalized version of its popular Firefox 4 browser for Android smartphones.

Like its desktop counterpart, Firefox 4 for mobile offers secure access to personal data across multiple devices, including browsing history, bookmarks, open tabs, form data and passwords.

The optimized browser also boasts tabbed browsing, bookmarks, add-ons and sync capabilities.

And as expected, FF 4 is up to three times faster than Android’s stock browser, due to a heavily souped-up JavaScript engine that accelerates page loads, graphics and overall performance.

    Additional features include:

    • Save to PDF - Capture important websites, like directions or a boarding pass, to view offline.
    • Share Page - Share websites via apps like email, Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader.
    • Improves existing tools like CSS, Canvas and SVG.
    • HTML5 support - Includes location-aware browsing, device orientation, accelerometer and desktop notifications.
    • JavaScript engine - incorporates new JägerMonkey JIT compiler, along with enhancements to the existing TraceMonkey JIT and SpiderMonkey’s interpreter.
