Irvine (CA) – Toshiba added a new high-performance version to its gaming laptop line X305. Equipped with a 17” screen, the Q708 version comes with an Intel quad-core CPU, a solid state disk drive and, you guessed it, a premium price tag.

Standard features of the new notebook include a Core 2 Extreme QX9300 processor, 4 GB of memory, a 128 GB SSD and a 320 GB hard drive as well as an SLI graphics configuration consisting of the Nvidia 9400M IGC and a discrete 9800M GTS graphics chip with 1 GB of memory. The package, which comes in the same bright red colors as previous X305 models, will be offered for $4200. That is more than twice as much as other X305 gaming notebooks, which are available from $1500.

The price does not include a Blu-ray drive (after all, it is Toshiba). The notebook is only available with a DVD burner that supports 11 different media (CD and DVD) formats, Toshiba said.

All X305 notebooks feature a 1680x1050 pixel 17” LCD, stereo speakers with a subwoofer, S/P DIF and HDMI ports as well as two bays for mass storage media such as hard drives or SSDs.
