Power laptop users don't have to wait anymore for dual-core processors as Alienware has just introduced a new dual-core powered laptop. The Aurora m7770 notebook can be equipped with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor. It also has a 17 inch screen and dual hard-drives.
On the laptop configuration page, potential buyers can pick from several different processors, memory and drive options. If they don't want a dual-core processor, a regular Athlon 64 or even an Athlon 64 FX-57 can be selected. The default 17 inch 1440 X 900 LCD screen can be upgraded to 1920 X 1200. The better screen also has a built-in camera. Decent graphics are also offered and users can choose the latest Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 GTX for their new laptop.
The two hard-drives are upgradable to 5400 RPM and 120 Gigabytes. Smaller drives can be selected that spin at 7200 RPM. The drives can be striped (RAID 0) or mirrored (RAID 1).
According to the Alienware laptop ordering page, the Aurora m7700 will start shipping on January 18, 2006. A fully configured laptop with an Athlon 64 X2 4800 CPU and 2 GByte of RAM was just under $5000.
