Hulu Plus lands on some Android tablets

The leading online video site for current-run TV shows is close to being on a new platform

Hulu Plus is finally making its way to the world of Android tablets, but only a few are in the list of supported devices so far.

Anyone who watched as the online streaming service was slowly and randomly rolled out to Android phones should know that it might take some time before massive tablet support is enacted, and the next device on the list is anyone's guess. For now, though, some tablet owners have reason to celebrate.

So here's the complete list of supported devices: Asus's Eee Pad Transformer Prime, Asus's Eee Pad Transformer, Motorola's Xoom, Motorola's XYBoard 10.1, Toshiba's Thrive, Acer's Iconia, and LG's G-Slate. Just like with the Android phone rollout, there doesn't seem to be a common denominator among these devices. When the phone app was getting off the ground, some even suggested that Hulu was working on one device at a time and simply used whatever phones they had available at their offices.

Hulu has confirmed that the seven devices mark "just the beginning of our Android tablet rollout." However, it did not provide any sort of time table as for when users can expect an update. Meanwhile, of course, iPad owners have been streaming Hulu content free and clear since last year.

As to be expected, the site blames hardware fragmentation, with each tablet running a different combination of Android version number, processor, and product display and layout. It's nice to see that the team is working on it, though.
