Samsung spits on iPhone 4S with Galaxy S2

After Apple introduced the new iPhone, not only did Samsung sue in record time but now it's also blasting the phone's functionality itself.

Samsung took the new iPhone announcement to swiftly market all the ways its upcoming Galaxy S II smartphone, the company's most ambitious yet, is better.

Among the factors are the Galaxy S II's 4.3-inch display compared to the 4S's 3.5 inches, and faster network speed capacity.

Samsung sent the self-congratulating e-mail to customers very quickly after the new Apple gadget was unveiled. It was clearly a marketing ploy in development for a while.

It is the latest in the never-ending saga between Samsung and Apple. What started as a dispute over patent licensing payments has turned into all-out guerrilla warfare.

The current status of the mega battle between the corporate behemoths is that Apple has been successful in blocking Samsung Galaxy Tab sales in Germany and Australia, and Samsung is now trying to preemptively ban sales of the iPhone 4S in parts of the world.

During one of the legal spats, the Korea Times quoted a Samsung source as saying, "For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights."
