Apple and RIM: no more fart apps. Everyone else: Yay
In the world of smartphone apps, there's one universal problem that everyone can agree is really stupid: fart apps. So Apple and RIM have both decided to eliminate them altogether.
Apps like "iFart" have become a mainstay on iPhone, Blackberry, and Android app stores. But no one really thinks they're a valuable addition to anyone's app collection. Well, that is, no one older than six.
And only really immature people would design something so juvenile and useless...like the man at the head of Apple's App Store.
Blackberry's VP Alan Panezic wrote, "We don’t need 200 fart apps in App World. Those are apps you’ll use three or four times then never open again."
Meanwhile, Apple made the following statement a couple weeks ago: "We have over 250,000 apps in the App Store. We don’t need any more Fart apps. If your app doesn’t do something useful or provide some form of lasting entertainment, it may not be accepted."
For those really depressed by the fact that they can no longer submit fart apps to these mobile platforms, well, you're not really worth talking about anyway. These moves do leave Android as the only safe haven for fart artists.
And now that we've said "fart" more times than we care to count, we're just gonna walk away.
