Thanks to Android, HTC sales go through the roof

HTC, a company that most people had never even heard of just a couple years ago, has posted second quarter profits of 58% higher than the previous year.

Within the span of just a couple years, HTC has gone from an obscure Taiwanese phone maker no one had ever heard of, to one of the biggest names in the mobile industry. It was the manufacturer behind the very first Android phone, the G1.
Since then it has created some of the biggest-selling Android devices on the market, including the Droid Incredible and the Evo 4G.

In its Q2 earnings report, HTC posted revenue of around $1.9 billion, a 58% increase over its 2009 figure. Net income saw an also-impressive 33% year-to-year jump, at around $268 million.

HTC does still have Windows Phone devices in the pipeline, but at this point its focus is extremely weighted toward Android. In total, HTC has 12 Android phones.
