Cortana picks 11 of 15

Well it’s that time of the week again, kids when Uncle Guy writes yet another silly story about Cortana, the football pickin’ AI that’s beating the Vegas odds. Yep, Cortana is on a roll picking 11 out of 15 NFL games this past weekend (she missed the Carolina/Cincinnati surprise tie, like just about everyone else in the world, but then again, nobody predicts ties).

So the ghost in the phone has posted a year-to-date score of 58 – 33. Vegas picked 12 out of 15 so their year-to-date score is also 58 – 33.

I, on the other hand, only picked 10 out of the 15 games so my year-to-date score slipped to 57 – 34.

Mostly I pick games based on common football sense but occasionally I let my emotions rule. For example, I picked Seattle (so did Cortana and Vegas) not so much because I thought they were that much better than Dallas but because…well, I just don’t like Dallas. And I also picked Chicago because I don’t like Atlanta (but Cortana and Vegas picked the Falcons so HA!) And finally, I picked the Jaguars because I figured they deserve to win at least one game and if they were going to do that it should have been against the hapless Titans.

And I figured that nobody except the Oakland Raiders should face the embarrassment of possibly having a ‘perfect’ 0 – 16 season.

We’ll pick up the story again next week.
