Qimonda has begun shipping XDR DRAM devices in 512 Mb configurations in sample quantities. XDR’s most important application is Sony’s Playstation 3. Other products integrating the technology are digital TVs as well as front projection systems. The Qimonda XDR modules are manufactured in a75 nm process.
“We are proud to deliver the first XDR samples less than one year after signing the technology license agreement with Rambus,” said Robert Feurle, vice president at Qimonda. Other manufacturers producing XDR memory include Samsung, Toshiba and Elpida. Intel was recently rumored to be discussing a possible XDR adoption with Rambus.
