While highlighting the power-saving capability for its Caviar GP-series hard-disk drives (HDDs), Western Digital (WD) revealed that it lists the 1.8-inch HDD segment as an item that requires further observation in terms of cost, demand and possible replacement by solid-state drives (SSDs). Kuo highlighted that the Caviar GP-series features "Green Power" and is ideal for massive storage applications.
