Gigabyte’s (Haswell) BRIX mini-desktops go live for $300

Although they aren’t much larger than a DVD drive, Gigabyte’s BRIX line of mini-desktops are full-fledged PCs equipped with either Intel or AMD processors.

Recently, Gigabyte updated its flagship BRIX lineup with new models featuring Intel Haswell chips that offer optimized performance and lower power consumption compared to earlier BRIX devices.

Newegg is currently selling barebones models for $300 and up, although as Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, they do ship without any memory, storage, or operating system.

Aside from the Intel Haswell processor (and graphics), key specs include WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, an uber-mini case and a compact motherboard with a variety of USB and audio/video ports.

“For $300 you can pick up a model with an Intel Core i3-4010 processor and Intel HD 4000 graphics,” Linder confirmed.

“There are also pricier models with Intel Core i5-4200 and Intel Core i7-4500 chips and Intel HD 4400 graphics. Each model supports up to 16GB of RAM, and the computer cases measure just 4.5″ x 4.24″ x 1.18″.”

It should be noted that Gigabyte will soon be offering a cheaper BRIX model equipped with an Intel Celeron 2955U processor.
