Dell’s Wyse Cloud Connect (Project Opehlia) gets previewed

Dell’s Wyse Cloud Connect is an Android PC-on-a-stick that can be plugged into a TV or monitor, transforming it into a thin client device. Meaning, users can login to a remote server to run Windows or other enterprise software.

As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, companies will likely use the device to set up inexpensive, mobile workstations for employees.

“The device is about the size of a large USB flash drive. But it has an HDMI connector where you’d normally find a USB connector. On the other sides there are microSD card, micro USB and mini USB ports,” Linder explained.

“The Wyse Cloud Client also has built-in support for WiFI and Bluetooth [and is] MHL-compatible, allowing you to connect the Cloud Client to an MHL-capable device with a single cable for video and power. If you use a standard HDMI port you’ll need a separate power cable.”

Cloud Connect first debuted in January as Project Ophelia. The PC-on-a-stick will be shipping in the near future for around $100. Check out the preview video above, courtesy of Notebook Italia.
