This Atom-powered nettop has a $160 price tag
Giada has introduced an uber-tiny nettop with a sweet $160 price tag.
The i35V is powered by a 1.86 GHz Intel Atom D2500 dual core processor, Intel GMA 3600 graphics, 2GB of RAM and features a 16GB mSATA solid state disk (SSD) for storage.
As Lilliputing’s Brad Linder points out, the inclusion of an SSD should help keep power consumption down significantly, as solid state drives use less energy than traditional hard drives while generating less heat.
SSDs are also typically faster than hard drives, although Giada hasn’t offered up read/write speeds for the i35V. As an added bonus, the 2.5 inch hard drive bay can accommodate a 320GB hard drive, and the company does apparently plan to offer some models with a traditional HDD option.
Additional specs include 5 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, and SPDIF ports, an Ethernet jack, 802.11n WiFi, mic and headphone jacks, as well as a flash card reader.
The i35V - which measures 7.6″ x 5.9″ x 1″ and consumes approximately 24 watts of power - ships without an operating system. However, the nettop should be able to run Windows 7, as well as various Linux flavors.
