Lucid's Unity takes multi-GPU gaming to the next level

LucidLogix has taken multi-GPU gaming to the next level with the introduction of a new graphics board architecture for its advanced HydraLogix engine.

"Until now, the only way to remove the limitation of SLI- or Crossfire-specific architectures was to buy a motherboard with LucidLogix HYDRALogix engine embedded," Lucid spokesperson Kimberly Stowe told TG Daily.

"Now, for the first time, graphics board vendors can combine a single HydraLogix 200 real time distributed processor with any single Nvidia or ATI GPU - thereby creating an affordable, flexible multi-GPU-ready graphics card that can help make any motherboard a high performance gaming system."

Lucid's Unity takes multi-GPU gaming to the next levelAccording to Stowe, Lucid's Unity architecture will provide both gamers and hardcore PC enthusiasts with even more options to configure multi-GPU rigs, as consumer graphics boards are expected to be available by holiday season at price points under $199.

It should be noted that Lucid's Unity has already received positive reviews from a number of industry heavyweights, including Jon Peddie of Jon Peddie Research.

"The market for multi-GPU systems has shown continual growth even in a down economy," explained Peddie.

"Lucid's expansion of its HydraLogix technology to the graphics board further expands options for OEMs, ODMs and consumers and should provide additional momentum to the growth of reasonably priced, high-powered gaming systems."

As TG Daily previously reported, Lucid’s versatile Hydra technology provides interoperability amongst GPUs and chipsets, auto-correct load balancing and multiple GPUs that simultaneously process.

The HydraLogix 200 currently supports both dual and triple multi-GPU configurations, while providing 80% or more graphics acceleration for popular PC games.
