Is that an iPad ARM Core in your Samsung Wave smartphone? Why, yes, yes it is.

UBM TechInsights announced the find after tearing down a rather unlucky S8500 Wave and discovering a slick 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 core.

iPad ARM Core powers Samsung Wave smartphone"By investigating the Samsung S5PC110A01 application processor and comparing it to the A4 found in Apple's iPad...We were able to confirm that not only is Samsung the manufacturer of both application processors, but both [chips] feature the same 1 GHz ARM CORTEX A8 core [made] using a 45-nanometer low-power fabrication process," explained UBM spokesperson Young Choi.

"With this find, we begin to see how Samsung is successfully asserting itself as the leader in the wireless and mobile applications processor market."

According to Choi, there is also "speculation" that the next-gen Samsung Galaxy S Android-based Smartphone will feature the same ARM-based processor found in the iPad.

"Sales of Samsung manufactured processors [are] expected to reach very high-levels. With these key sockets in place [i.e., Apple] Samsung will easily maintain its position as the market leader in application processors that it originally attained in 2009."
