Dell says things are getting better

Posted by Nigel Constantine

Dell has decided to delay closing its plant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for three months because PC demand is rising.

Dell had originally ordered the plant to shut down at the end of January and employees tossed out into the cold and the snow while Mikey Dell twirled his imaginary moustache.

However the company has now realised that people are actually starting to buy PCs again and if it shuts down too many factories it won't have any to sell them.

The Winston-Salem plant mostly focuses on making desktops and although Dell will not confirm if the place has a future betond April, it does indicate things are looking up.

Dell last month reported an increase in sales for the third quarter although profits declined by 54 percent compared to last year.

Winston-Salem currently employs 400 people.
