Slideshow: Nvidia showcases next-generation GPU architecture

  • As TG Daily previously reported, Nvidia showcased its next-generation Fermi architecture during the 2009 GPU Conference in San Jose, California.

According to Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, Fermi represents the "foundation" of the world's first computational GPUs - which are expected to include the GeForce, Quadro and Tesla brands.

To illustrate his point, Jen-Hsun debuted a series of demos which were powered by a Fermi-based Tesla chip.

Nvidia also invited a number of researchers and industry experts to discuss the future of parallel computing, such as Harvard's Hanspeter Pfister, Richard Kerris of Lucasfilm and graphics veteran Michael Kaplan.

Finally, Nvidia hosted an exhibitor showcase where vendors touted their GPU-based wares.
