Chicago (IL) - NEC Display Solutions has itself a new 82-inch display today which, while designed for professional-grade usage, could probably find its way into your home quite easily. It is called the MultiSync LCD8205 and you can pick yourself up one for around $55,000 before Christmas.
The NEC MultiSync LCD8205, like similar professional display screens, "can be installed in either portrait or landscape orientation and even tiled together for a video wall up to four displays high and four displays wide, to create a massive video canvas of 328 inches diagonal viewable area." Imagine that for the next time you want to play your favorite Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 game.
NEC says automatic, ambient light sensors in this display slightly tweak the brightness level to adjust to external lighting conditions. Technical aspects of the LCD8205 include 600 cd/m² high brightness, 5000:1 contrast, 1920 x 1080 HD resolution, inputs for DVI/HDMI, five picture modes and an 8ms response time for full-motion video. There's also a 178-degree viewing angle, though you probably don't have to worry about that so much if you have 16 of these babies mixing together on your wall.
Sounds like the perfect companion for Sharp's $185,000 plasma TV.
