Irvine (CA) - Quickly moving high capacity from the desktop to the portable market, I/O is bringing a 250GB model to its "Data To Go" line of small form factor hard drives later this month.

I/O is upgrading its line of mobile hard drives to include 160GB, 200GB, and 250GB models.  Each measuring 2.5 inches, they can link up to a laptop via USB 2.0, with plug-and-play compatibility.  The company says it can transfer data at rates of up to 480 Mb/s.

Western Digital also recently introduced a portable 250GB hard drive, a capacity that is still on the high end of the desktop computer market.

The 250GB Data To Go hard drive will ship "soon" to retailers, according to I/O, and will carry a retail price of around $190.
