Memory chip maker Hynix Semiconductor has reportedly offered to transfer its NAND flash technology to ProMOS Technologies, in addition to the two companies' existing partnership for 50nm-class DRAM stack process technology, as the Korean maker seeks to strengthen its ties with ProMOS amid the Taiwan government's attempt to bail out local DRAM makers. Industry observers commented that Hynix is trying to prevent ProMOS from forming partnerships with other DRAM makers at a time when players in the DRAM industry are probing the possibility of consolidation.
