Supermicro announces motherboards with Intel G45 and G43 chipsets

  • Even though Intel has not formally announced its chipsets yet, we have seen several announcements already talking about new products based on G45 and G43, code-named Eaglelake. Supermicro was one of those companies jumping the gun a bit early, announcing new desktop platforms that promise “workstation performance for the desktop.”

    The company’s new ATX boards integrate one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, support for high-definition 7.1 channel audio via an S/PDIF connector as well as six analog audio outputs, six SATA ports, twelve USB ports, a PCIe x16 slot (x4 electrical), a PCI-E x1 slot, legacy 32-bit PCI slots as well as a Gigabit LAN port.
