Samsung SDI begins to volume produce AMOLED panels

  • Samsung SDI recently announced the company began to volume produce AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) panels in the second half of 2007 with monthly capacity in 2008 to likely reach eight million units, up from four million units in this year. Targeting handset, PDA, personal media player (PMP) and digital camera markets, the company currently ships 2- to 4.8" AMOLED panels and plans to roll out 7" WSVGA (1024×600) panels next year.
