Elpida and UMC jointly develop copper low-k DRAM and PRAM

  • Elpida Memory and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) have announced a joint development program for DRAM with copper low-k backend, as well as for phase-change random access memory (PRAM/PCM). Under this collaboration, UMC will license its copper low-k technology to Elpida for production and Elpida will license the rights to offer DRAM as part of UMC's advanced system-on-chip (SoC) solutions.
