Apple increases its share in the notebook market, but desktop sales decline

  • Global shipments of Apple Computer's Intel-based laptops totaled 780,000-800,000 units in the second quarter of this year, with the MacBook becoming a hot model in the mainstream market, according to sources at Taiwan notebook makers, citing data available from IDC and Gartner Dataquest. Apple's second-quarter notebook shipments represented an on-year increase of 60% and accounted for more than 4% of the global notebook market - the highest share that Apple has in the past two years, the data showed.
