Qualcomm Inc. announced that its net income soared to $190 million for its fiscal fourth quarter that ended on September 29, 2002. This represents a strong turnaround from Qualcomm's performance for the same period one year ago, when Qualcomm posted a loss of $75 million. Qualcomm's sales also increased 34% to $874 million from the previous year's sales of $651 million. Qualcomm cited increasing demand for wireless technology and chips in phone handsets with color screens and fast Web access as key factors.
