YouTube Celebrates Uploading Its First Video

I’ve said it many times before, I’ll say it again, I just love YouTube to death. I can’t believe it’s now ten years old, and I hope there will be at least a hundred more.

So now YouTube is celebrating the first video that’s every been uploaded on April 23, 2005, “Me at the zoo.” As Yahoo tells us, the video was uploaded by Tube’s co-founder Jawed Karim, and the site is reportedly posting over 300 hours of new videos every minute.

So according to Parade and Wikipedia, what are the most uploaded videos on YouTube? Me at the Zoo got 19 million views, there’s a lot of cat clips that have gotten insane numbers of views, one that got 75 million, and with music, Gangham style is apparently number one with 2,307,082,001 views, Justin Bieber’s Baby with 1.5 billion views, and…oh wait a minute, who cares about Justin Bieber and cats?

What’s important is YouTube has created a great place to upload your own personal expression, share your video collection with the world, and so much more. This is why I’ll always love it, and just like when I first got onto the internet, I couldn’t help but wonder where this wonderful innovation had been all my life.
