Battlebots to Return this Summer

If you loved the show Battlebots, there’s good news…the show will be returning, thanks to ABC.

The show originally ran on Comedy Central from 2000 to 2002, and Esquire reports it will be coming back this summer for a special six-episode run. We’re not sure if there will be more episodes if the show does well in the ratings, but there’s clearly a big Battlebot following out there, which Esquire raving that the show was “the closest experience to Real Steel that modern technology could allow.”

As ABC said in a statement, this time the show “will have a greater emphasis on the design and build elements of each robot, the bot builder backstories, their intense pursuit of the championship and the spectacle of the event.”

So if you’re a fan of monster trucks, and let’s face it, that stuff’s a lot of fun, the return of Battlebots should be a great treat this summer.
