Battlestar Galactica Creator Has Passed

While Battlestar Galactica wasn’t the greatest TV show in the world, without it, we wouldn’t have the groundbreaking Galactica reboot years later. Now the creator of the original Galactica, Glen A. Larson, has passed away at the age of 77.

Larson was a legend in television for decades who created many big shows including The Six Million Dollar Man, Buck Rogers, Magnum P.I., Quincy, Knight Rider, The Fall Guy, and more.

Again, Galactica didn’t get mad respect from the sci-fi illuminati, but many fans loved it for years and years, which helped spark its reinvention. Among the sympathies that hit the web in Larson’s memory included Galactica star Richard Hatch, who mentioned that Larson was working with Universal on a new Galatica movie based on the original.

“He was one of a kind,” Hatch continued. “A very smart and resourceful producer…a great sense of humor and loved entertaining, hosting parties, film nights and get togethers frequently at his home. He will be missed and I hope his dream for Battlestar will be realized…”

Edward James Olmos, the new Adama, also tweeted, “Glen Larson, we thank you for the ride, you are battlestar, we will miss you. See you on the other side.”
