Matt Damon is Bourne again

After  The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Matt Damon announced that he would not play Jason Bourne unless Paul Greengrass was directing. At that time Greengrass was pursuing other interests and had no plans of continuing with the franchise.  After The Bourne Legacy, with Jeremy Renner playing Aaron Cross, disappointed at the box offices, it was predictable that the producer, Frank Marshall, would try to get the two protagonists back on board, and he succeeded.

Now that Damon and Greengrass are officially back on the project, speculations are growing on what Jeremy Renner’s part will be in the next installment. The next Bourne chapter still has no official name, making it difficult to hint at a possible storyline. All we have is a tweet from the producer announcing the “first day of principal photography” and a casted maybe-villain, Vincent Cassel.

It’s good news for fans that Matt Damon is back as Jason Bourne, as it wasn’t clear if he would ever return again. You never know he might even team up with his old buddy Ben Affleck in a Bourne vs. Batman movie. When E!News asked if Bourne could take on Batman, the actor answered

“Jason Bourne would kick the s–t out of Batman – absolutely”

But don’t set your hopes too high, I doubt that we will see the  two universes united in one movie, unless hollywood runs out of superheroes.
