The Crow Remake Finally Has a Lead

The Crow came out the same year as Pulp Fiction, and it came out through Dimension, a sub-division of Miramax. Before Pulp’s release, The Crow was a hit that generation X also responded to well, and it would have been the big launch of Brandon Lee’s career if he hadn’t been killed in a tragic on-set accident.

There’s been a remake of The Crow in the works for a long time, surprised?, and now it’s revealed that Jack Huston of Boardwalk Empire will be playing the title role. (Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey will be playing The Crow’s lover, Shelly Webster.)

As Rope of Silicon reports, James O’Barr, who created The Crow has confirmed that Huston will definitely be playing The Crow, and he’s “really happy with that choice…[the film] will shoot in a couple of months.

It was sad to see The Crow, and Brandon Lee’s life, cut so short on the verge of such incredible promise. None of the following sequels had the goods, and maybe enough time has passed that it can be reinvented for today’s generation. At its heart, The Crow was really a love story, and if it follows the original graphic novel, and keeps the spirit of the first film alive, it could have a shot.
