Can Another Pirates Flick Save Johnny Depp

A lot of show biz pundits have been saying Johnny Depp is down for the count with three big bombs in a row. Funny enough, he was never the big blockbuster guy until he was able to bring a lot of silly quirks to Jack Sparrow, creating a very memorable role that stole a few moves from Keith Richards.

So now another Pirates movie is shooting, Dead Men Tell No Tales, and we’re wondering if the franchise can be revived at this point. The movie is currently underway in Australia, and as The Wrap reports, Javier Bardem is joining the cast, Geoffrey Rush is back, and Golshifteh Farahani (Rosewater) is the female romantic lead.

The Wrap tells us that the next Pirates, which will be directed by the Kon-Tiki team of Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning, will have a group of pirate ghosts coming out of the Bermuda Triangle, and Depp has to get ahold of The Trident of Poseidon to fight them.

Forget the Trident of Poseidon, can another Pirates flick be Depp’s magic charm that will bring his career back up from Davey Jones’s locker? Even if the Pirates movies aren’t that great, they usually make a ton of money, and the next Pirates will probably make big bucks again, but it probably won’t be ready until July 7, 2017, which is the release date we’re currently seeing on the net so far.
