Gotham First Reviews Are In and Ben Affleck Feels Batman’s Pain

In the world of superheroes, other than hero teams like the Avengers, the big thing are origin stories. This has been a big thing in Hollywood for a long time…How Superman became Superman, how Batman became Batman, etc. Now Fox has Gotham, a series that details the rise of Commissioner Gordon, as well as the rise of the villains that took over the city.

This show will not show Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, Bruce will be a child in the series, so Gotham could be a very unique take on the Bat-legend. First reviews are in. The verdict?

The Hollywood Reporter writes that, “Fox manages to create a series that works on its own, without leaning too hard on its lineage…Agents of SHIELD always felt like a series that was missing a center (those superheroes), and it took a lot of episodes for the series to even find its own way…Gotham, on the other hand, arrives as its own entity…with enough intriguing characters and a stylized visual presence that is immediately intriguing.”

HitFix also tweeted, “It’s well-cast, top-to-bottom, and the production values play higher in context than they have in the trailers.”

Okay, we’re still over a year away from Batman Vs Superman (release date: March 25, 2016) yet somehow there’s tons of press all over the place for it, even though you would think Warner Brothers would keep everything on it top secret. The latest? Ben Affleck talks about identifying with Batman, especially his anger, which as we all know can be considerable.

As Affleck told Variety, “For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with…then, when it finally emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over.”
