Only three female particles found in CERN LHC lineup

  • The photo that CERN released to celebrate it beating the world record reveals that men vastly outnumber women in the boffin lineup.

This picture shows a total of 21 people, only three of which are female. The females are clustered together.

We don't know the pecking order of the people shown in the photographs or who they are. CERN doesn't supply that information on its website.

It's also interesting that there are two opened bottles of something fizzy sitting on a cupboard at the back. If it's champagne they opened, that won't have gone very far. Maybe the rest of the bottles are inside the cupboard. There's some data about sexism in particle physics, here.
