Tokyo (Japan) - If you own a PlayStation 3, it is important to note that the firmware update is now live. Sony has released the update mainly for the improvement of the PlayStation 3's media capabilities. Among other things, it allows the user to wield a new set of tools for sorting through and displaying their personal collection of digital photos.
Additional new features include new category groupings for the organization of photos. For example you can organize by which camera is used, the date of the photo, the time it was taken, photo colors, ages, and even the facial expressions of individuals pictured.
The software also lets users create slideshows and set them to music and to also build their own personal photo playlists.
With the new update users will be able to explore the PlayStation Store without becoming PlayStation Network members. Users will also be provided with DivX 3.11 support, thus allowing the player to display more video formats than in the past.
