Fairfax (VA) – Electronic Arts today announced that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will go live in next month and will be marketed via various subscription models that will cost at least $13 per month.
After three years of development, Mythic Entertainment and Electronic Arts are ready to let the MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning out of the gate. The game is available for pre-order now and will officially be introduced on September 18. Pre-orders in North America include open beta admission, a live game head start, and bonus in-game items, EA said. All units of the game’s Collector’s Edition having been sold out in North America.
Based on the tabletop game, the new Warhammer Online is promised to deliver “revolutionary Realm vs. Realm gameplay that will immerse players in a world of perpetual conflict for years to come.” Players will enter a grim fantasy world of continuous conflict to fight for the Realms of Order (Dwarfs, High Elves, and Empire) or Destruction (Greenskins, Dark Elves, and Chaos). According to EA, gamers can invade enemy lands, besiege imposing fortresses, and sack capital cities.
The online game is offered in three different subscription models. A monthly subscription runs for $15, a 3-month subscription for $42 and a 6-month subscription for $78. EA will also sell 30- and 60-day prepaid Game Time Cards “at many game retailers.”
According to EA, more than 787,000 gamers have signed up for teh beta programs o far.
