Redwood City (CA) - The country's largest video game publisher Electronic Arts announced that it is working on a new entry to its "Skate" franchise, for Nintendo's Wii and DS systems.
The game, Skate It, will be compatible with Nintendo's Wii Balance Board controller, which allows gamers to use their feet to control some of the action. Additionally, it will use a new control scheme with the DS stylus.
"Loaded with all-new gameplay features, Skate It breaks new ground by introducing innovative support for the Wii Balance board which gives players a fresh way to create their own signature skateboarding style," said EA in a statement.
EA has shown early interest in the unique Nintendo controller. Last week it announced it was working on a fitness game for the Wii, a self-described Western alternative to Nintendo's Eastern-inspired Wii Fit. Wii Fit, which comes out in the US next month, will be the first to use the Balance Board.
EA is the first publisher, even over Nintendo, to announce two Balance Board-compatible titles.
Other games using the Balance Board include the upcoming 2K Sports' boxing game Prizefighter, a cheerleading simulator from THQ and Namco's We Ski.
