Doom 4 announced for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
id Software announced that is has started with the development of Doom 4, the next version of one of the most popular gaming franchises.
The announcement was a part of huge hiring push, which was accompanied by a quote from Todd Hollenshead, co-owner and CEO of id: "Doom is part of the id software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth. It's critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles."
Virtually no details are known about the title, besides the fact that its development will take place in hidden dungeons located somewhere in the vicinity of Interstate 635. The id careers page has the details about opened jobs, revealing the direction of Doom 4: PC and dual-GPU-powered consoles.
Id Software is looking to fill the following positions:
Lead Designer, Art Director, Level Designer, Terrain/Environment Artist, Cinematic Art Director, 3D Character Artist, Concept Artists, Senior Game/Level Artist, Lead Animator, Animator, Game Programmer, Effects Programmer, and producer.
Hiring a producer, art director, lead designer and a lead animator for an unannounced title is a major undertaking. It appears to us that id Software is out for fresh blood and wants to fill its ranks with new people to inject new life into the company. All of the jobs require knowledge of PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 architectures. Secondly, don't expect to get a job if you fail to be nice with Donna, also known as The Mum of id. Bringing cookies always counts as a bonus. Don't say we didn't warn you ;-)
