Dr. Phil to talk about video game violence
New York (NY) - TV psychiatrist Dr. Phil McGraw will be a new high profile commentator with an assumed negative outlook on violent video games, reports Game Politics.
Though McGraw has never really taken a position on the controversial topic, in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings earlier this year, he said, "We’re going to have to start addressing those issues and recognizing that the mass murders of tomorrow are the children of today that are being programmed with this massive violence overdose."
Activist lawyer Jack Thompson also made the media circuit in response to the campus tragedy, immediately blaming it on video games. It was later discovered that there was no real connection between the shooter and violent video games.
Game Politics reports the episode dealing with this subject will include a "game violence specialist," which could very well be Thompson. It's unknown when the episode will be taped or when it will air. Dr. Phil's daily talk show is syndicated across the country.
