Culver City (CA) - Sony has finished version 1.90 of the Playstation 3 firmware, adding among other things 1080p24 and AVCHD video support.

The new update will allow users to set Blu-ray Disc playback a 1080p 24Hz, and will have support for stored video in the AVCHD format.

In addition, there are multiple small, cosmetic changes.  For example, firmware 1.9 will also finally let users set custom backgrounds for the PS3 main menu.

A new setting will also let users press the triangle button from the Xross Media Bar to eject discs.  Users will be able to rearrange the order of downloaded games under the "Game" menu tab.

A couple other minor changes include new CD output options for 44/1/88.2/176.4 kHz and the ability to change PS1/PS2 upconvert settings.

The new firmware will be available tomorrow.
