EA to bring "Family Play" to Wii sports titles
Redwood City (CA) - Electronic Arts today announced an exclusive feature that will make its way to the Wii versions of upcoming EA Sports titles.
Family Play is the name of the feature that EA says will make Madden NFL 08, NBA Live 08, and FIFA 08 easy to play for the whole family. The games will have two sets of controls, one for novice players and one for more advanced gamers.
The crux of the two control schemes is the Wii's nunchuck attachment, which adds more complex controls to the Wii Remote. Players will be able to choose individually whether or not they want to use the nunchuck.
EA says the Wii Remote will control movements like shooting, passing, and throwing, while the nunchuck will be key in fine tuning these moves. Without the nunchuck, the game will do the rest on its own. PS3, Xbox 360, and other versions of these titles will only use one control scheme.
In the same breath, EA also announced that FIFA 08 will let players put their customizable Mii characters in the game as part of their virtual team.
Madden NFL 08 will be available on August 14, with NBA Live slated for an October 2 release. FIFA 08 currently holds a pending Q3 2007 release date.
