Bellevue (WA) – Valve’s Steam will be getting a major update this summer which will add social networking features. In what the company calls the “largest update to the Steam platform”, users will soon be able to make personal team pages and profiles. There will also be other community services including rating other players and voice/text chat.
Valve says all the features will be accessible through the Steam desktop client and the web. Steam will continue to be free.
Steam has around 13 million users and is responsible for content and patch delivery for many of Valve’s games. The update will be added in July.
