Sony promises flood of 380 new PS3 games

  • Tokyo (Japan) – Sony’s chief executive Howard Stringer has promised a flood of new games to boost PlayStation 3 sales.  Speaking at Sony’s shareholder conference, Stringer said 380 new games will debut this fiscal year which will end in March 2008.  180 of those games will be Internet delivered, while the rest will be sold through game stores.

Currently the PlayStation 3 has around 150 games and that’s really stretching it because that number includes a number of very small and dubiously entertaining free games that are offered through the console’s Internet menu.

According to Reuters, Stringer also promised to double shipments of the PlayStation 3 to 11 million this year.
