Los Angeles (CA) - Online game service GameTap will soon begin offering some games for free, thanks to new ad space on the site.
GameTap, which is owned by Turner Broadcasting System, costs about $10 a month for users who want full access to the over 850 classic games available.
Under the new arrangement, specific titles will be playable for free as long as the user sits through a video ad before the game starts and then sees a stale ad to the side of the game while playing.
So far, the free titles will include Bust-A-Move, Joust, Laura Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, Metal Slug, Rampage, and Space Invaders. The new service will begin some time next month.
