San Francisco (CA) – Project Gotham Racing, a blockbuster game title for the Xbox and Xbox 360 game consoles, will soon be available in a version for Windows Mobile smartphones.
A functional demo of the game posted on Glu’s website shows some of the features of the final game, which will include tracks through San Francisco, Paris, London, Cairo and Shanghai and sports cars such as Lamborghini Gallardo, Ford GT, Aston Martin Vanguish, Mercedes AMG-C-DTM, Toyota GT-One, Corvette C6, Cadillac 16 and Honda NSX.
While limitations of screen resolution and controls will not quite rival the look and feel of the PGR series on the Xbox, Glu apparently has a solid title that is capable of entertaining mobile phone users for some time. Cars can drift and jump over hills, players can save race ghosts and post their results to online leaderboards. There are even some unlockable rewards, which include PGR 4 previews.
Pricing of PGR for Windows Mobile has not been announced.
In a separate note, Glu said it has reached an agreement with Microsoft to develop an adaptation of Age of Empires III for cellphones. The game is scheduled for a 2008 release.
