Microsoft finalizes build-your-own-Xbox-game software
Redmond (WA) - Microsoft today releases the final version of its XNA Game Studio Express. Based on the Visual C# 2005 Express Edition, the software allows aspiring game developers and enthusiast to create their own PC and Xbox games. The software is available free of charge, but users who want to run their games on their Xbox 360 console, will have to become members of the XNA Creators Club. The membership can be purchased through the Xbox Live Marketplace for $49 as a four-month subscription or $99 for a full year.
Microsoft also announced the "Dream-Build-Play" contest, which will offer an opportunity for hobby developers to showcase innovation and talent. The "Dream-Build-Play" contest will be launched in January, Microsoft said.
