Redwood City (CA) - Entertainment software giant Electronic Arts today announced that it has shipped The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch King, the latest expansion to the company's movie game franchise.
The new add-on to The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II includes a new faction, an additional single player campaign, and a pack of new items, as well as "all new content from J.R.R. Tolkien's original fiction," according to EA.
The Battle for Middle-earth II is a Real-time Strategy (RTS) game for the PC, and was released in March of this year. Since EA acquired the rights to the film and book franchise last year, it has become one of their biggest properties, having spawned over a dozen games under the EA label.
The new expansion is rated T and is set to be on store shelves this Thursday at a retail price of $30.
