On hiatus since 2006, System of a Down has announced that they will reunite next year for a summer tour making stops throughout June, including one at the Download Festival in the UK. The band writes on their website: “We have no master plan of sorts – we are playing these shows simply because we want to play together again as a band and for you, our amazing fans.” Well said.

It’s the season of giving, and the folks at 4AD and The Red Hot Organization are doing just that. They recently announced that the Dark Was The Night album, released in February 2009, has officially raised $1,000,000 for several charities chosen by the featured artists.

New music this week includes even more Daft Punk songs from the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, Bright Eyes, David Lynch, and Innerpartysystem. The LA-based radio station KCRW hosted a preview of the Daft Punk soundtrack for Disney’s upcoming film TRON: Legacy, releasing five more previously unheard tracks - you can stream them right now! Bright Eyes has announced the release of their new album The People’s Key out February 15th via Saddle Creek Records. Filmmaker David Lynch is shaking things up, officially releasing his first electronic single on iTunes. The single will be also released as a remix set sometime in January.
