The Fantastic Four reboot is up and running, and the current cast includes Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Miles Teller, and Michael B. Jordan. There’s still one important piece of casting that needs to be in place, and that’s of course Doctor Doom.
According to Collider and The Wrap, there’s four actors up for the role, Sam Riley (On the Road), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbel (Wrath of the titans, and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time). All these actors have big movies coming up. Riley has the Angelina Jolie movie Maleficent, Redmayne is in Jupiter Ascending, Kebell will be in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and World of Warcraft, and Gleeson will be in the big screen adaptation of Unbroken.
As The Wrap points out, all of the actors up for the roles are Brits with accents, though who knows if Doctor Doom will have a British flavor or not.
Every great superhero story has to have a great villain, or villains, and for The Fantastic Four, the role of Doctor Doom is a crucial one to fill. The Fantastic Four has also been a very difficult title to adapt, and several have tried and failed before, especially the ridiculous 1994 attempt that never got released. We’re definitely hoping and praying this one will finally hit the mark, and it’s currently scheduled for a June 19, 2015 release.
