Is the Star Wars Cast Complete?

The next Star Wars movie is slated to begin shooting in May, and while there’s no official announcements yet, the latest rumor going around is that the casting has been completed. This is surprising news if it’s true, although you’d figure they’d have to have a cast together pretty quickly to get started by summer.

Still, Avengers Age of Ultron is going to shoot in the spring, and one of the most important roles, The Vision, just got cast. You get the feeling with movies like Star Wars, no matter how far ahead you plan anything, there’s always going to be things coming together at the last second. So now a report has come out on Yahoo Movies UK that casting may indeed be complete on Star Wars, and according to another journalist, the shooting schedule will be May 19 – August 8.

This report tells us that “casting [is] complete barring two leads. Everyone’s back.” And we assume this could be in reference to the original three, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher, returning. The current speculation is the next Star Wars movie will revolve more around the original three, and the next movies will focus on the new actors and characters.

Right after this report hit the net, Giant Freakin Robot ran a story that Gary Oldman is a big contender for a Star Wars role, and he told Sky News, “I’ll believe it when I’m on the plane home. The deal isn’t done. But yeah, they’ve inquired.”

Again, mark your calendars if you haven’t already, Star Wars: Episode VII will be in theaters December 18, 2015.
